Heaven

The gate swung open on its
golden hinge, pearlescent hues
shifting in the light. At once
soft strains of melodic sound
bounded on the breeze, skipping
with the freshness of spring thaw,
like children eager to play.

The streets were lined with banners,
rainbows of every color
flying proud. Spices mingled,
guests at an aromatic
festival of scents, twirling
with the sweetness of honey,
lovers flirting at a ball.

The people raised their voices,
singing as they clapped their hands
in beat. Souls and faces flushed
apple shades of red as smiles
propelled every pair of feet
up the verdant mountain way,
amidst blissful swaying trees.

The palace glowed with radiance,
doors flung open wide, laughter
echoing the halls. Silver
trumpets announced every guest;
the herald greeted each one
with a twinkle in his eye,
welcoming grown children home.

The feast reverberated
with joyful song as servants
bustled, filling every cup
to overflowing, each plate
adorned with choicest morsels,
wine, food and delicacies
from the table of the King.

The Groom stood arrayed with light,
tears running into His smile
as He embraced His Bride. She,
clothed with snow, rested in the
strength of her beloved's arms,
delighting in the way they
guided her across the floor.

The throne, alabaster stone,
was empty as the King ran
to the midst of the banquet,
quieting the room. Every
eye was fixed on His youthful,
grinning face, every cup raised:
that's when God began to dance.
